To follow Christ in community is to challenge and commit oneself to personal spiritual growth and the well-being of a healthy and diverse community. Whatever your age, you will find companions for the journey and the support and tools you need to grow spiritually. You'll also find people who will care for you during times of pain and celebrate with you on occasions of joy, and you will be invited to do the same for others.

Children. St. Nicholas is the patron saint of children, and so it is natural that we especially seek to include and nurture children and adolescents. We provide religious education for young people ages three to eighteen most Sundays at 10 am, from September to May. Children are also invited to participate in numerous ways in the 11 am liturgy, and in more a structured fashion, such as being an acolyte, in the 9 am liturgy. Young children are welcome to remain in church with their parents, and even to wander around a bit if they become restless. Over the years we have learned that, even when it appears otherwise, children of all ages are profoundly interested and engaged in what goes on in church. Occasionally, however, they've had a rough night, or are teething, or something else is going on that makes it difficult for the youngest children to remain in church. For these and other reasons, we currently make nursery care available during the 11 am liturgy.

Adult Education. Adults and interested teens are encouraged to attend our adult formation program most Sundays at 10 am, September to May (and occasionally during the summer). This interfaith group has examined a wide range of contemporary spiritual issues, including a survey of the world religions, creationism vs. Darwinian evolution, and religion during World War II.

LGBTQ Family. St. Nicholas believes that accepting people is not enough. That's why we celebrate all of God's people, including LGBTQ individuals. We offer a number of opportunities to explore the relationship between spirituality and sexuality throughout the year, including our monthly LGBTQ meetup group, which hosts viewings of recent films, discussions of a wide range of topics from meditation to Christian sexual ethics, and social events, such as our annual Gay Pride party.

Jungian Programs and the Inner Life. Our pastor, Steve Martz, has recently completed training as a Jungian analyst. He and other analysts and analytic candidates will offer programs periodically that apply the insights of Swiss psychoanalyst C.G. Jung to religion and spiritual growth.
